Making the demo series

Hey guys,

Are there any more parts of "making the demo" series? It was a pretty interesting read.

Glad you liked them! I don't think I can write more about it though, everything has been said. But I'm always happy to answer some questions if you have them off course :)

I got a few:

1)WHEN IS THE DEMO COMING OUT?

2) You mentioned in part two of making the demo:
Bram wrote:Do you want your troops to follow you and focus on defending Pier? Just give the order and they will. Or would you like them to charge in and attack everybody in their way?

How important is micromanaging the soldiers in the game? Is it comparable to the minions in overlord?

3) Also throwing things like barrels at enemy's was mentioned but how about weaponry,
Are you able to pick up a spear or bow?

4) Will there be civilians in the game?

Well those I can answer :)

1) Unfortunately, we don't know yet. At the moment we're talking with a few parties who could collaborate with us to publish the game. We're using the demo to show the game to them and things are looking positive for that, but it's also the reason why we've decided to put the public release on hold until we know more.

2) Managing your soldiers is quite important. Without your directions they'd attack everyone the can, which can get them killed quite fast. And without assistance of your own men you'd have a really hard time (and later in the game even impossible) to win battles. It's been a looooong time since I played Overlord so I'm not really sure how they compare, but I hope you have your answer, otherwise let me know :)

3) At the moment picking up other weapons is not possible in the game. The seven feet sword is Great Piers trademark of course, so we've decided to let him keep using that from the moment he gets it.

4) Yes, absolutely! Your task is to liberate Frisia and in order to do so you'll have to set the cities free. In the cities there are many civilians walking around, doing their daily business and sometimes giving you (side)quests.
In the demo there will be civilians as well. But in the scenes you play in the demo you are fighting your way through a town and battle is going on everywhere so they won't be handing you quests. Instead they're running around in panic :D

Hey Bram,

Thank you for the answers, good luck with finding a good publisher.

Wouldn't a project like this work well self published? Or is that a route you don't want to go down?

For now self publishing isn't the way to go for us. At least not as long there are still interested parties to work with us :)
